Purpose

“It takes a village to raise a child.” African Proverb

In accordance with the African proverb, which is an ideal on which the Foundation is based, if it is indeed the village that raises the child, then we, as The Lonely Road Foundation, strive to empower the village, provide a structure, initiate the dialogue and uplift the spirit of the community that raises the child.

The Lonely Road Foundation commits to providing financial, legal and operational support and training to underprivileged communities so that they might set up a community response to critical issues, surrounding Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC’s) and HIV/AIDS.

Through the Lonely Road Challenge we now have growing teams and expanded ground contacts in each of the Southern and East African countries on the cycle route, as well as generous donors and support structures in the UK.

The Lonely Road Foundation is directly making an impact in six countries and strengthening relationships as well as working through non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and community-based organisations (CBOs).

The intention is to ultimately extend our support throughout sub-Saharan Africa in years to come.  And to set up a platform that is accessible to all NGO’s in the region.

Anyone, anywhere can make a difference – Find out how!
