  • On the 1st of April we will be turning our attention to the largely uncelebrated angels of our work, our caregivers. We have 156 caregivers working in Ga-Dikgale, who give of themselves every day of their lives, often without payment or even recognition, to care for the orphaned and vulnerable children in their community. This is one day that is for thinking, planning, dreaming and celebration, and its all about them! The day will consist of an Imbizo, followed by our annual caregiver awards.   • Used (but still usable) items looking for new homes? We are collecting second hand clothing again! As you shake open those drawers of summer wear and pack away all the warm and fluffy things, please consider donating these items to the Lonely Road. We will be glad to collect any clothing, blankets and bedding, as well as small household items. Creating businesses for our communities: Repair, rework, recycle Any baby clothing, children’s clothing, blankets or cooking items go to our child care facilties to provide for our children in Ga-Dikgale who need it most.   • The Lonely Road Foundation is currently running a radio campaign focusing on the distressing reality of child abandonment in South Africa. To make a real difference to the lives of these children, we have partnered with New Beginningz – an on-the-ground NPO that works tirelessly to give abandoned and at-risk babies a real chance at life. A portion of the funds raised from this campaign will go towards much needed items on their wish list.
